The ride started at Cycle Center of Denton. We went up 35 to just North of Sanger and crossed over Lake Ray Roberts and made our way through Tigoa. We then rode through Whitewright and made it to Carpenter's Bluff and took a few minutes to read about the historical bridge...
Carpenter's Bluff (pop ca. 100) is located east of Denison on FM 120. The bridge can be found just north of the road as you enter the settlement.
This impressively high bridge spans the Red River and links Grayson County to Bryan county, Oklahoma. Built in 1910, it was designed to allow trains, wagons, pedestrians, and horses to cross for a toll. In the 1960's, the bridge was deeded to Grayson County, which renovated it for automobile use. It's now a one-lane bridge with the old wooden walkway hugging it on one side. Information gathered from http://www.texasescapes.com/CentralTexasTownsNorth/Carpenters-Bluff-Texas.htm
After crossing the bridge we journeyed into Oklahoma and came back South on 75 to Denison where we stopped for a bite at the Cotton Patch.
It was a great turn out and a lot of fun! We look forward to the next ride on March 10th!
